Basketball Recap: Mountain Pointe Comes Up Short

Mountain Pointe fought the good fight in their overtime match against Horizon on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Horizon Huskies by a score of 64-62. The Pride were not able to make up for their loss to the Huskies from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Horizon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Milner, who posted nine points along with five assists and five steals. Milner is becoming a predictor of Horizon's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is 9-4 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Korn, who had 15 points and six rebounds.

Mountain Pointe's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Horizon, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.

Mountain Pointe has already played their next contest, a 78-49 win against Maricopa on the 15th. As for Horizon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-58 loss against Red Mountain on the 15th.
