Basketball Recap: Sweetwater Takes a Loss

Sweetwater suffered their biggest defeat since January 9th on Thursday. They lost 65-39 to the Gibbs Eagles. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Sweetwater saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bryson Burgess posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Ashten Brown, who earned five points.

Sweetwater moved to 7-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Gibbs, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Sweetwater didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-48 loss against Meigs County on the 13th. As for Gibbs, they will face off against Clinton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Gibbs' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.
