Baseball Recap: Cardinal O'Hara Takes a Loss

Cardinal O'Hara couldn't beat Sterling on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Lions fell just short of the Silver Knights by a score of 6-5.

Brendan Till and Sean Vaughn did some serious damage despite the final result: Till went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Vaughn went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Vaughn has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Sean MacGillivary also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cardinal O'Hara's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-5. Those home defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Sterling, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Looking ahead, Cardinal O'Hara will square off against Pope John Paul II at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal O'Hara's pitchers better be ready for this one: Pope John Paul II has averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Sterling, they will challenge Paulsboro at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
