Baseball Recap: Deer Park Takes a Loss

Deer Park and Pullman squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Deer Park had to settle for second. They lost 11-3 to the Greyhounds. The loss continues a trend for the Stags in their meetings with the Greyhounds: they've now lost eight in a row.

Ian Olietti was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Deer Park is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise. Olietti was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Austin Bruner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Deer Park is 2-1 when Bruner posts two or more runs, but 9-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Pedar Tobeck, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Deer Park now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Pullman, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

As of now, neither Deer Park nor the Greyhounds have any future games scheduled.
