Baseball Recap: Cedar Wins Going Away Against Cedar Valley

After only two runs in their last matchup, Cedar made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cedar Valley on Friday. Everything went the Cedar Reds' way against the Cedar Valley Aviators as the Cedar Reds made off with a 13-3 win. The Reds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Cedar got a great performance from Brent Martin as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Martin a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Karson Duncan was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Gavin Mackert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Cedar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Cedar back to even at 2-2. As for Cedar Valley, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Cedar will take on Ridgeline at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Cedar Valley, they will take on Uintah in a tournament on Friday.
