Baseball Recap: St. Benedict at Auburndale Takes a Loss

St. Benedict at Auburndale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Germantown Red Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since April 3, 2024.

Kyle Silvestro put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Silvestro was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Carson Twigg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

St. Benedict at Auburndale's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Germantown, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

St. Benedict at Auburndale and Germantown could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Eagles (ranked 266th) will meet Lausanne Collegiate (ranked 27th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Germantown will challenge Collierville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (223 vs. 4).
