Football Recap: Seguin Matadors vs. Victoria East Titans

On Friday, the Seguin Matadors beat the Victoria East Titans 37-30. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Matadors.

A big part of Seguin's victory came down to the chemistry between Corey Dailey and his top target Nik Henry. Dailey threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns while Henry picked up 142 receiving yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Henry also racked up 18 rushing yards, the mosthe's had since back in September of 2023.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Seguin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Victoria East only rushed for 83.

Seguin wouldn't let Victoria East keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Seguin can thank Dylan Eisen-Sepeda and Jared Rogers for forcing both of them.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kason Kolle, who threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Caleb Jefferson, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

The win got Seguin back to even at 2-2. As for Victoria East, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Seguin will venture away from home to square off against Boerne-Champion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Victoria East, they will face off against New Braunfels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
