Volleyball Recap: Trinity Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Avalynn Johnson and Charlee Phillips + How To Watch

Trinity was the 3-1 winner over Asheboro when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Blue Comets on Tuesday. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Blue Comets since Tuesday.

Trinity started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Trinity had strong showings from Charlee Phillips, who had 24 digs and four assists, and Avalynn Johnson, who had 24 assists and 13 digs. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 31 games she's played dating back to last season.

Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Asheboro, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Trinity wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against North Surry on the 28th. As for Asheboro, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Eastern Randolph on the 27th.
