Volleyball Recap: Trinity Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Avalynn Johnson and Charlee Phillips + How To Watch

Trinity was the 3-1 winner over Asheboro when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Comets on Tuesday. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Blue Comets since Tuesday.

Trinity started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Trinity had strong showings from Charlee Phillips, who had 24 digs and four assists, and Avalynn Johnson, who had 24 assists and 13 digs. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 31 games she's played dating back to last season.

Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Asheboro, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity will take on North Surry at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Asheboro, they will face off against Eastern Randolph at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
