Baseball Recap: Curwensville Drops Highest Score of Season Against Marion Center

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Curwensville). They were the clear victors by a 20-9 margin over the Marion Center Stingers on Friday. With that victory, the Golden Tide brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Lincoln Hoyt was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Tkacik, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Curwensville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Curwensville's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Marion Center, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Looking ahead, Curwensville will square off against Glendale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.53 runs per game on average), something the Golden Tide will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marion Center, they will face off against Homer-Center at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
