Baseball Recap: Lake Country Lutheran's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Lake Country Lutheran extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Dominican. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Knights. Considering the Lightning have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Poellot made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Manthei, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Manthei, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Lake Country Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dominican only posted an OBP of .158.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Lake Country Lutheran, bringing their record up to 20-5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dominican, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-15.

Lake Country Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-4 loss against St. Joseph on the 10th. Dominican does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
