Softball Preview: Northmont Thunderbolts vs. Springboro Panthers
The Northmont Thunderbolts will face off against the Springboro Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Northmont and Fairmont had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Thunderbolts had just enough and edged out the Firebirds 8-7 on Wednesday. The Thunderbolts haven't had any issues with the Firebirds recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Springboro entered their tilt with Beavercreek on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Beavers. The Panthers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 10-2).
Springboro got a massive performance out of Kylene Seibel, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Seibel has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Kim, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Springboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.
Northmont's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Springboro, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
