Softball Game Preview: St. Johns Redskins vs. Show Low Cougars

The St. Johns Redskins will take on the Show Low Cougars at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

St. Johns took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with an 11-7 victory over Round Valley. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

St. Johns let Kelsey Scarbrough and Kaylee Pulsipher run wild. Scarbrough scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Pulsipher went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. What's more, Scarbrough posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lucy Sundahl, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Show Low got the win against Blue Ridge on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-3. Considering the Cougars have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Johns pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Show Low, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
