Softball Game Preview: Dripping Springs Tigers vs. Georgetown Eagles

The Dripping Springs Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Georgetown Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dripping Springs will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Dripping Springs' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Weiss. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Addy Knapp tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Phillips was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Tatum Green was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Georgetown's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Weiss by a score of 7-6.

Dripping Springs pushed their record up to 22-6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Georgetown, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 18-9-1.

Dripping Springs came out on top in a nail-biter against Georgetown in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
