Baseball Recap: Wheeling Central Catholic Sets Scoring Season-High Against Marietta

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wheeling Central Catholic). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Marietta Tigers a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Maroon Knights have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Wheeling Central Catholic got a great performance from Steven Brodegard as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Koy Lipinski was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Zayne Rosnick was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Wheeling Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Marietta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Wheeling Central Catholic will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Fort Frye at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for Marietta, they will face off against Warren at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
