Baseball Game Preview: Brooke Bruins vs. Buckeye Local Panthers

The Brooke Bruins will face off against the Buckeye Local Panthers at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Brooke lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Steubenville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Bruins were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Big Red on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Parker McMahon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Andrew Murdock was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Brooke: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Aiden Provenzano was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Brooke kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Buckeye Local, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Brooke on Monday as they made off with a 10-4 victory. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Buckeye Local picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Brooke, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-7.
