After only one run in their last match, Brandon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pearl on Friday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Pirates. Considering the Bulldogs have won 11 games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Evie Pickard and Dakota Davis were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Pickard tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Davis tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, Pickard went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run, while Davis went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Pickard a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chloe Jenkins was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Keeton, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Brandon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pearl only posted a batting average of .226.
Brandon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 18-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pearl, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brandon will take on Northwest Rankin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pearl, they will challenge Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
