Basketball Recap: Urbana Beats Bellefontaine for Their Ninth Straight Win

Urbana put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 56-44 victory over the Bellefontaine Chieftains. Given the Hillclimbers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Chieftains are ranked 260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Urbana to victory were Peyton Mounce and Olivia MacKendrick. Mounce went 8 of 19 en route to 23 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, while MacKendrick dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. The matchup was Mounce's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alisabeth Upchurch, who posted two points and five rebounds.

Urbana's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Bellefontaine, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.

Urbana will host Graham Local at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bellefontaine, they will head out to face off against Shawnee at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
