Football Game Preview: Hobbton Wildcats vs. Lakewood Leopards + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Amir Tate and Calvin Lacewell Jr are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hobbton Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Lakewood Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hobbton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Lakewood likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Hobbton strolled past West Columbus with points to spare, taking the game 42-28.

Reginald Thompson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 226 yards and four scores while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 110.9 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Anthony Cowell, who rushed for 64 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hobbton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 524 rushing yards. They are 4-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 40 points the game before, Lakewood was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were beaten by East Bladen 32-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Leopards were not able to get on the board.

Hobbton pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points over those games. As for Lakewood, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Hobbton came up short against Lakewood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 34-30. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Chris Carr (who rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
