Baseball Recap: Legacy Christian Academy Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Legacy Christian Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Greenon.

Justin Harphant made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Cancino, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Alex Tooker was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Legacy Christian Academy pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Greenon, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legacy Christian Academy will welcome Troy Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Greenon, they will square off against Fairbanks at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
