Baseball Recap: Yuba City Extends Winning Streak to Four

Yuba City extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 21-5 in the process. They blew past the Nevada Union Miners 14-7. Considering the Honkers have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Eliaja Moncher, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ivan Perez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Nevada Union, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered against Yuba City since March 15, 2016.

On Nevada Union's side, they got a good showing from Brock McBride, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time McBride hasn't allowed a single hit since April 2nd.

At the plate, Brogen Lyden made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Nevada Union's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-15 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Van Matre, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Yuba City will have a chance to go back-to-back against Nevada Union: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
