Basketball Recap: Freeland Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Freeland waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 68-59 win over the Bridgeport Bearcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 78-55 back in January.

Freeland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wilson Huckeby out in front who shot 47% from the field on his way to 23 points. Huckeby is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last three games he's played. Tristan Comer was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.

Freeland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

Freeland pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points over those games. As for Bridgeport, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

Freeland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 77-50 victory against Bullock Creek on the 26th. As for Bridgeport, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-45 win against Caro on the 24th.
