Laughlin hasn't had much luck against Lincoln County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Laughlin Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lincoln County Lynx at 7:30 p.m. Laughlin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Laughlin is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 56-46 win over Lake Mead Christian Academy on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Laughlin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was DaVinci Faccioli out in front who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Trinidad-Rodriguez, who went 5 of 12 en route to 12 points and three steals.
Laughlin was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lincoln County came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-49 victory over the Guardians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lynx have posted since January 26, 2024.
Laughlin better keep an eye on Kalen Bart. He was instrumental in Lincoln County's win, putting up eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowdy Lloyd, who had 16 points.
Lincoln County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Laughlin, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Laughlin has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Lincoln County, though, as they've only made 25.1% of their three-pointers this season. Given Laughlin's sizable advantage in that area, Lincoln County will need to find a way to close that gap.
Laughlin ended up a good deal behind Lincoln County when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 62-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lincoln County's Kenyon Almaraz, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.
