The Eastlake Wolves will challenge the Skyline Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Eastlake sitting on three straight victories and Skyline on four.
On Monday, Eastlake made easy work of Cedarcrest and carried off a 3-0 win.
Eastlake's got stronger as the match went on, holding Cedarcrest to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-11.
Eastlake can attribute much of their success to Renna Chow, who had six digs and three aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Eastlake was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. They are 5-1 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, Skyline got the win against Sammamish on Monday by a conclusive 3-0.
While Skyline won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 28-26, 25-14.
Eastlake better focus on containing Liz Oberg and Megan Chen as the pair were huge in Skyline's win. Oberg had four digs and two aces, while Chen had five digs and three aces. That's the most digs Oberg has posted over her last six matches.
Eastlake's victory bumped their record up to 6-11-1. As for Skyline, they now have a winning record of 8-7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Eastlake has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.9 aces per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Eastlake was able to grind out a solid win over Skyline in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
