Softball Recap: Doddridge County Extends Winning Streak to Five

Doddridge County had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2015.

Madelyn Barker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Doddridge County got a massive performance out of Brooke Dehaven, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Maysun Gagnon, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Doddridge County's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Fairmont Senior, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Doddridge County will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Marys at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fairmont Senior, they will challenge Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Polar Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 10.9 runs per game this season.
