Basketball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades an easy 46-20 win. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Renegades are ranked 120th).

Despite the loss, Riverside still got an impressive performance from Grace Mahony, who posted six points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Riverside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Chambers/Wheeler Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Annabel Waldo, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Ella Moses, who earned 14 points and three steals.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Riverside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-30 win against Twin Loup on the 21st. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-28 victory against Central Valley on the 21st.
