Football Recap: Riverside-Brookfield Piles Up the Points Against Elgin

Riverside-Brookfield got themselves on the board against Elgin on Friday, but Elgin never followed suit. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 51-0 win over the Maroons. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Maroons are ranked 397th).

Jacob Retana was his usual excellent self, rushing for 93 yards and two TDs on only eight carries.

The victory keeps Riverside-Brookfield at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 44.5 points this season. As for Elgin, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside-Brookfield will challenge Fenton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elgin, they will square off against Aurora East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Maroons will be up against the Tomcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.75 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
