            Softball Preview: Bloomfield Cardinals vs. Springs Valley Blackhawks        
        
		
        
        
            The Bloomfield Cardinals will challenge the Springs Valley Blackhawks at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Springs Valley took a loss in their last  matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bloomfield, who comes in off a win.
It was a proper cat-fight when Bloomfield took on Loogootee on Tuesday. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp  14-4 victory.
 Lila Koontz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  five innings while giving up  three earned runs off   five  hits. Koontz was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring four  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Gwenavere Klun was  incredible,  scoring three  runs and  stealing five bases while  getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances.  Addison Lafree was another key player,  going 2-for-5 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.
 Bloomfield was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .417. The last time their  batting average was this high was  back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Springs Valley came up short against  Wood Memorial on Tuesday, falling  24-8. The Blackhawks have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
 Springs Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Marissa Marshall, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Another  was  Elliott Wininger, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in two of her four plate appearances.
 Bloomfield couldn't quite get it done against Springs Valley in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024 as they fell  9-6. Can the Cardinals avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
