Baseball Recap: Marceline Comes Up Short

If Marceline was riding high fresh off their 13-1 takedown of Knox County on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the Fayette Falcons by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Cody Rodgers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marceline saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Lowe, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Lowe has hit this season.

Marceline's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15-1. As for Fayette, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-16.

As of now, neither Marceline nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
