Baseball Game Preview: Jay Mustangs vs. Southside Cardinals

The Jay Mustangs will square off against the Southside Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Jay nor Southside posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Last Wednesday, Jay came up short against Southwest and fell 4-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost three in a row.

Anthony Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jay saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Frankie Urrutia, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Southside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwest.
