Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Alcoa's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Alcoa won against Loudon last Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Alcoa beat the Pigeon Forge Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Tornadoes, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Myles Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Levi Spivey, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Kyler Clark, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Alcoa is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. With the loss, Pigeon Forge broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2-1.

Alcoa will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pigeon Forge: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
