Volleyball Recap: Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Takes a Loss

If Rocky Mountain Prep SMART was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of DMLK on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ocelotls came up short against the Montbello Warriors on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Ocelotls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-13, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Rocky Mountain Prep SMART still got an impressive performance from April Vences, who had eight aces and five kills. Vences has been hot, having posted three or more aces the last seven times she's played.

Brittany DelRio was a one-woman wrecking crew For Montbello. as she had six digs, six aces, and five kills. The dominant performance also gave DelRio a new career-high in assists (28). Another player making a difference was Laylah Porras, who had 11 digs, six kills, and three aces.

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Montbello, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

As of now, neither Rocky Mountain Prep SMART nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
