Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Glen Allen's 14th in Last 15 Outings

Glen Allen won the last time they faced Matoaca and things went their way on Saturday too. The Glen Allen Jaguars blew past the Matoaca Warriors 64-44. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Glen Allen to victory were Lindsey Shoulders and Riley Waite. Shoulders went 7-for-12 on her way to 21 points and five boards, while Waite went 5-for-11 en route to 17 points and six assists. Those six assists gave Waite a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makayla Louis, who posted four points and eight rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Glen Allen was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Matoaca only posted five assists.

Despite the loss, Matoaca saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kailah Carter went 12-for-17 to rack up 28 points. That was a full 63.6% of Matoaca's points, marking the third time in a row Carter has put up more than a third of the team's points. Sydney Richardson was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Glen Allen is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points over those games. As for Matoaca, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

Glen Allen has already played their next game, a 60-23 victory against Freeman on the 13th. As for Matoaca, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-46 win against Prince George on the 13th.
