Basketball Game Preview: Spooner Rails vs. Ashland Oredockers

The Spooner Rails are taking a road trip to challenge the Ashland Oredockers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Spooner lost to Chetek-Weyerhaeuser at home by a 87-73 margin. The Rails have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Ashland ended up a good deal behind St. Croix Falls on Tuesday and lost 64-46.

Ashland dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Spooner, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Spooner was able to grind out a solid win over Ashland when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 51-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spooner since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
