Baseball Game Preview: Colfax Falcons vs. Ripon Christian Knights

For the second straight game, Colfax will face off against Ripon Christian. The Falcons will take on the Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Colfax heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ripon Christian. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Ripon Christian's part, Trenton Cloward spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Stadtler Postma was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah De Bruyn, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Ripon Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

Ripon Christian is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Colfax, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-15-1 record.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Colfax has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ripon Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
