Football Game Preview: East Helena Vigilantes vs. Havre Blue Ponies + How To Watch

East Helena is 0-3 against Havre since September of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Vigilantes will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Ponies at 7:00 p.m. East Helena's defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so Havre's offense will have their work cut out for them.

East Helena took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Browning 76-0. That 76 point margin sets a new team best for the Vigilantes this season.

East Helena relied on the efforts of Bearek Shuman, who threw for 195 yards and four TDs while completing 90.9% of his passes, and Decker Jones, who rushed for 74 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. The dominant performance also gave Shuman a new career-high in passer rating (169.5).

East Helena didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jones and Conor Carpenter.

Meanwhile, Havre faced Fergus in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Blue Ponies took a 33-14 bruising from the Golden Eagles. Surprisingly, this marked the Blue Ponies' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

East Helena's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.6 points on average over those games. As for Havre, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.

East Helena suffered a grim 42-19 defeat to Havre in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Vigilantes, Tate Nelson (who rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also caught one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
