The Rodriguez Mustangs will face off against the Liberty Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rodriguez is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Rodriguez took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Vanden, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since April 27, 2024.
Carson Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rodriguez let Ben Vaughn and Drew Beasley run wild. Vaughn scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Beasley scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Vaughn is becoming a predictor of Rodriguez's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Liberty entered their tilt with Las Lomas on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 6-2.
Liberty also got a great performance from Tristan Ainsworth as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Ainsworth a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Chayce Formosa was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Trace Hoover was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Liberty hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Las Lomas struck out seven times.
Liberty pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Rodriguez, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
