Softball Recap: Highland Find Success

Highland's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hammond Central Wolves an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Trojans have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jordan Steele was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Hailey Thomas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Highland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Highland's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Hammond Central, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland will venture away from home to square off against Lowell at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hammond Central, they will head out to face off against Westville at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
