Basketball Game Preview: Corliss Trojans vs. Woodlawn

The Corliss Trojans will head out on the road to square off against Woodlawn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Woodlawn is hoping to do what Urban Prep-Bronzeville/Urban Prep-Englewood couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Corliss' winning streak, which now stands at three games. Corliss managed a 63-57 win over Urban Prep-Bronzeville/Urban Prep-Englewood.

While Woodlawn didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Chicago Washington 62-42 on Tuesday. Woodlawn has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Woodlawn's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 21.8 points. As for Corliss, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Corliss skirted past Woodlawn 63-61 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Corliss since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
