Baseball Recap: Pocono Mountain East Beats Whitehall for Their Fourth Straight Win

Pocono Mountain East posted their closest win since March 19th on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Whitehall Zephyrs, sneaking past 4-2. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered a 6-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Camryn Sopko was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sopko was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other pitching news, Brady Marabell tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, Bobby Ehrmann was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Pocono Mountain East, bringing their record up to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Whitehall, they moved to 7-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Pocono Mountain East wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-2 victory against Northampton on the 21st. As for Whitehall, they have also already played their next game, a 6-5 win against Emmaus on the 21st.
