Soccer Game Preview: Palisade vs. Grand Junction

The Palisade Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Grand Junction Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Palisade is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Durango on Tuesday. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Demons. Having soared to a lofty seven goals in the game before, Palisade's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Grand Junction didn't have quite enough to beat Montrose on Tuesday and fell 4-3. The loss continues a trend for Grand Junction in their meetings with Montrose: they've now lost eight in a row.

Grand Junction hit Montrose with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sedona Czarnecki, Merli Brown, and Marie Calkins.

Palisade's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3-2. As for Grand Junction, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-3.

Palisade came out on top in a nail-biter against Grand Junction in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
