Basketball Recap: Booker Finds Playoff Glory Versus Shamrock

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Booker walked away with it. They walked away with a 65-53 victory over the Shamrock Irish on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Kiowas, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Booker to victory were Reydn Rosales and Julian Barton. Rosales dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Barton went 8-for-17 to rack up 22 points and six boards. Rosales is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Xavier Aquilera, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Booker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive matchups.

Despite the defeat, Shamrock saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jeff Rollerson went 10-for-21 on his way to 34 points and five boards. Shamrock is 2-1 when Rollerson posts 30 or more points, but 7-15 otherwise. Kyle Ishee was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Booker is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points over those games. As for Shamrock, their loss dropped their record down to 9-16.

Coming up, Booker will take on Wildorado at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wildorado will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Booker surely won't give up without a fight. Shamrock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
