Basketball Recap: Northpoint Christian Academy Skates Past Providence Classical with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely NorthPoint Christian Academy's strategy against Providence Classical on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the NorthPoint Christian Academy NightHawks blew the Providence Classical Paladins out of the water with a 70-37 final score. With the NightHawks ahead 41-20 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

NorthPoint Christian Academy was led to victory by Gabe Spann and Chelan Chudgar. Spann went 9-for-13 to rack up 27 points along with five assists and three steals, while Chudgar went 10-for-21 on his way to 25 points and three steals. Spann's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Enriquez, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 rebounds and nine steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: NorthPoint Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win (which was NorthPoint Christian Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 11-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points over those games. As for Providence Classical, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Looking ahead, NorthPoint Christian Academy will head out to face off against Lee Park Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lee Park Prep has won six straight at home, while NorthPoint Christian Academy won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Providence Classical does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
