Softball Recap: Spackenkill Has No Trouble Against Our Lady of Lourdes

Spackenkill lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Our Lady of Lourdes, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Spartans blew past the Warriors 13-6 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Addison Whitted, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adriana Alessandro, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Spackenkill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Spackenkill and bumps their season record up to 4-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Our Lady of Lourdes, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spackenkill will square off against Red Hook at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Our Lady of Lourdes, they will challenge Newburgh Free Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
