Softball Recap: Wagner's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

Wagner dropped their record down to 9-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 10-0 to the Tottenville Pirates. The Falcons were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the seven contests prior), but the Pirates' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Tottenville, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games.

For Tottenville's part, Unique McMullen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. McMullen has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Nina Rivera was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Veronica Broadbent, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Wagner will face off against Port Richmond at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Tottenville will be paying especially close attention to the Falcons' game: after the Falcons face off against New Dorp, they'll take on Tottenville again at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
