Softball Game Preview: Bear River Bears vs. Sky View Bobcats

Bear River has gone a perfect 10-0 against Sky View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bear River Bears will be playing at home against the Sky View Bobcats at 3:30 p.m. Bear River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Bear River is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Riverton, who was ranked first at the time (Bear River was ranked second). Bear River fell just short of Riverton by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their undefeated season.

Kate Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Bella Dougals was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Luci Roche, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Dougals wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Bear River lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Sky View's offense. They came up short against Grantsville on Wednesday, falling 10-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Cowboys: they've now lost four in a row.

Sky View now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Bear River, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Bear River took their win against Sky View when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0. Does Bear River have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sky View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
