Volleyball Recap: Cushman Triumphs

Cushman's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Cristo Rey Monarchs. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won five in a row.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Cushman took both sets by at least 21 points. The final score came out to 25-4, 25-4.

Kelly Lopez was nothing short of spectacular: she had 11 aces and 11 assists.

Lopez wasn't the only good server: Cushman was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 30 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

The win got Cushman back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Cushman and Cristo Rey will both be playing Basilica the next time they take the court. The Cougars will host the Mariners at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, while the Monarchs will play them later in the day, at 11:30 a.m.
