Baseball Recap: Centennial Gets the Win

Centennial proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Bakersfield Drillers 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Golden Hawks in their matchups with the Drillers: they've now won seven in a row.

Ross Rocha spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Centennial is 4-0-1 when Rocha allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tanner Parsons, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Preston Shults was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 10-8-1. As for Bakersfield, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-9.

Centennial will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Drillers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
