Baseball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Millennium Tigers

The Basic Wolves will challenge the Millennium Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Basic's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Millennium's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Basic is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Temecula Valley just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Bears.

Noah Sebastian was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Troy Southisene was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Andruw Giles also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Millennium didn't have quite enough to beat Higley on Monday and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost three in a row.

Noah Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Millennium saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Perrin, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Basic's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Millennium, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Basic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Millennium struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.4 home runs.
