Volleyball Recap: West Port Comes Up Short

If West Port was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Seven Rivers Christian on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolf Pack took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Forest Wildcats on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Wolf Pack in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

While West Port had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19.

Despite the defeat, West Port saw an underclassman step up: freshman Luis Monserat had 24 digs and eight aces. Those eight aces set a new season-high mark for Monserat.

West Port's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Forest, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. West Port will challenge Spruce Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. After both having extra time off, Forest and Tocoi Creek will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Toros will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
